"Measure twice, cut once"

After a few sewing related mishaps along my crafty adventures, I have taken note of my Grandmas very valuable piece of advice when it comes to pattern making, cutting and sewing.

But to be honest, with a few special birthdays coming up, i've got other things in mind for my recently found vintage sewing patterns - and I will cut until my hearts content...

Happy cutting and making - it's so much more fun than measuring!

Making things makes me feel better. I don't know if it's the satisfaction of having something in my hands that I created or whether it's the meditation of getting lost in the process. All I know is I feel better for doing it.

I visited the Power of making exhibition at the V&A on the weekend, I've been really looking forward to it and it did not disappoint. Although it was super busy and I had trouble getting a proper look at everything, I did manage to see the main attraction for me; the work of Dalton Ghetti. This guy's work is absolutely incredible, and when I read about why he does it, I appreciated it all the more...

"For Dalton, sculpting pencils is a hobby and a form of meditation, which requires a lot of patience. His pencil carvings are not for sale. He doesn’t do it for money. He sculpts pencils mostly for himself and his art comes from his heart. He wants to keep it that way." Read more about him here.

all with a little help from our friends (thank you!)

Creativi-tea

With DIY craft kits and lots of bits and bobs to choose from ...

... it didn't take long for the Crafternooners to get making! Inspired after working through a craft kit or two people started to freestyle and do their own thing - that's when things got really interesting! See for yourself here...

The lovely geek behind geekheartsaday joined us and made that days heart-art, bunting and loads more, check the creations out here

P.S we didn't manage to get pictures of everything that was made and we'd love to see more of your handiwork so email us your pictures and we'll add them to the collection.

Until the next time,
