Bags of fun

After a recent Topshop purchase, I couldn't resist turning their lovely big black and white printed bag into my own smaller, sweet-shop-style creations. The perfect goodie bags for housing a few happy crafting essentials. If you like the sound of a bit of cutting + sticking yourself and making something pretty from virtually nothing, why not come along to our next craft event?

Lets have fun making a mess together!

Your hair looks good today

Matchbox challenge day 17: the sweet one. I prettied up a matchbox with floral paper, an old map, washi tape and some dotty birthday paper. The box contains a collection of stickers I typed out that say nice things, including "I like your handwriting", "Can I hold your hand?" and "I like your socks".

What's the sweetest thing you've ever told someone or they've told you?

Out of my thoughts

Matchbox challenge day eight - the music one. Lovely lyrics from a song sung in the film "Before sunset" transferred onto heart-shaped pebble. (I've just watched a clip of the scene and I've got the lyrics wrong! But still, the sentiment remains..!)

A grand day out

We put on our aprons and set-up shop yesterday at Wonderhill market- where we had lots of crafty things we’d made for sale and a few vintage treasures in search of a new home!  It also turned out to be the perfect excuse to have a good old natter, meet lots of lovely stall holders, get-through a bag of lemon bon-bons (with a nice dusting, just like they used to be) and enjoy countless cups of tea, whilst playing shop (next to a very delicious cake stall might I add). And to be honest, the best part of all was spending an afternoon with my sidekick, Thelma!

Bonjour

The theme for day five of the Matchbox challenge is 'the French one' and for some reason I really struggled with the theme today. I tried all kinds of things, but ended up creating this which just felt 'right' - albeit not very French! The key is really special to me, and sort of tied into my heart, so it's a personal little creation that I'll treasure.

Chantilly lace

Day four of the Matchbox challenge, today's theme is 'Lace'.

I used a long description of different kinds of lace and how they're made then played around with the words onscreen before printing them onto brown wrap and covered the matchbox with it. I decided this box would house my diminishing collection of brown paper hearts, which happen to be very precious to me. The box is also tied with some lace Louise gave to me which I love.

Many happy returns

Day three of the Matchbox Challenge, the theme was 'The birthday one'. I used a big matchbox and wrapped it like a present, and put some miniature birthday bunting and a little note inside.

A little birdie told me...

Day two of the Matchbox challenge, today's theme is 'The bird one'. I found this little "Robin Club" brooch in a jar of buttons I picked up a while ago, I was so happy to find this little chap as robin's are my favourite birds. So it was the perfect excuse to make a little nest to keep him in.

Library (sketch) book

I joined the Sketchbook Project a few months back and yesterday sent it off my finished sketchbook to join the tour before it goes to live at the Brooklyn Art Library forever. It was pretty weird posting it to NYC knowing that people I've never met will be thumbing through it and getting a tiny insight into my world and I might never hold my creation in my hands again*. My theme was "Forever in a nutshell" - what the images above have to do with that, I have no idea, but I thought I'd share them anyway.

* Well, this isn't strictly true, because one day I will go and visit it and all the others. It's a great excuse to go to New York, if nothing else.

Par avion

I've signed up to take part in the February Matchbox a day challenge which has been set up on the beautiful Lobster & Swan site. This is my debut creation, the theme was 'airmail'. I'm going to be doing this every single day this month along with lots of other people who are joining in - check out all the creations here. Having bought a big box of old matchboxes recently with no real reason to, this is giving me the perfect excuse to breath much needed new life into them.
