Cut & bake

I caught up with some much needed crafting this week and oh how I’ve missed it! With some Fimo clay leftovers, my rolling pin and cookie cutters, I set to work and made some festive inspired tree decorations. I discovered that a straw makes the perfect hole-piercing tool, bake for 30 minutes and voila!

I love having a reason to make something, so I’m looking forward to getting my craft-on over the next few weeks.

Starry, starry night

I have really loved autumn this year (despite still struggling with the nights drawing in so early!) This change in the seasons is always my favourite and I've made the most of it; lots of walks in the park, crafting for Halloween and going to see fireworks with my nearest and dearest. I've also used the cold weather as an excuse to spend many cosy, lazy nights in front of the telly with a mug of hot chocolate.

But with Christmas just around the corner, here at Cut & Stick we're getting ready for a frenzy of crafting as we make and be merry using the festive season as the perfect inspiration. Once December is upon us, we'll be sharing our ideas, hand made presents, cards and lots of other festive crafty-ness with you right here.

Happy Halloween

Here at Cut & Stick HQ we've been busy crafting for Halloween; from pumpkin carving to lino cutting, sewing and printing, we've been having a lot of fun creating a whole host of spooky bits and bobs to get us ready for Halloween.

We have hand printed cobweb wrapping paper, made paper pumpkins (which are super easy to do) and created Trick or Treat matchboxes, which contain either a handmade spooky ghost or super-cute pumpkin.

Halloween is the perfect excuse to get your craft on!

Spud you like

Take a potato (or few), some paint, paper, blank cards, brown wrap, gift tags - whatever you have to hand and lose yourself in the innocent art of potato printing.

Simple geometric shapes are easiest to carve into the spud and look really good when repeated... think circles to make big dotty gift wrap, triangles repeated into patterns on cards, simple hearts printed on crisp white tags ... you get the picture. Have fun getting your print on!

We heart our crafters

Here’s a few pics of our crafters hard at work at our ‘tea and biscuit’ themed craft on Monday night.  We had an awesome time making biscuit brooches, cross stitch cards, tea bag gift tags and little felt tea pots together.

And because we chose a theme very close to our hearts, it was so exciting to see people adding their own stamp of creativity to the DIY craft kit they’d chosen.

Thank you to everyone who came along –see you again soon!

Pom pom o'clock

I’ve been a busy bee, making decorations for my niece’s 1st birthday party and have loved every minute of it! Lots of pink, fuss, laughter and the best party food to celebrate one very precious little girl.

To make one pom pom, you’ll need about 100 cake cases, a polystyrene ball, glue gun, a bit of time on your hands and plenty of patience – but definitely definitely worth it.

All stitched up

I love flowers and over the years have enjoyed experimenting with sewing onto paper– so decided to make my own flowery letter headed paper, embellished with my own freestyle embroidery technique.
I got the pattern from the lovely Martha Stewart – find the template here if you fancy having a go yourself!

Mini matchbox bunting

A matchbox of mini bunting I made from tissue paper, washi tape and sparkly stones for my little niece who needed cheering up. I packaged it with lots of other tiny treats and popped it in the post as a surprise.

The British Biscuit Festival

We had a great time creating lots of biscuit-inspired craft kits to share at The British Biscuit Festival at The Brunswick last weekend. We had a lovely space where lots of people got crafty with us, creating many a biscuit inspired creation. More pictures to follow but for now a cup of tea and an edible biscuit or few are called for ...

The biscuit festival

After long time no see, we’ve back on the road again at the weekend and will be taking ‘Crafternoon’ to The British Biscuit Festival, at the Brunswick Bloomsbury WC1, on Saturday 9th June.

We’ve chatted and crafted over many a biscuit, so we’re very excited to be invited along with our bag of tricks. We’ll be there from 12-6pm and we’ve got plenty of biccy-themed craft kits up our sleeve, so if you’re nearby come along and say hello!

Candy Coloured Stripes

I’ve been on the hunt for some candy coloured stripey sheets for quite some time. Word eventually reached my grandma’s neighbour (who was just about to throw said sheets in the bin). Result, I’ve landed myself the perfect lemon yellow, mint green, candy floss pink and cool blue combo and decided for their first outing that they’d make a nice looking bow.

Thank you grandma’s neighbour.

Bags of fun

After a recent Topshop purchase, I couldn't resist turning their lovely big black and white printed bag into my own smaller, sweet-shop-style creations. The perfect goodie bags for housing a few happy crafting essentials. If you like the sound of a bit of cutting + sticking yourself and making something pretty from virtually nothing, why not come along to our next craft event?

Lets have fun making a mess together!

Your hair looks good today

Matchbox challenge day 17: the sweet one. I prettied up a matchbox with floral paper, an old map, washi tape and some dotty birthday paper. The box contains a collection of stickers I typed out that say nice things, including "I like your handwriting", "Can I hold your hand?" and "I like your socks".

What's the sweetest thing you've ever told someone or they've told you?

Out of my thoughts

Matchbox challenge day eight - the music one. Lovely lyrics from a song sung in the film "Before sunset" transferred onto heart-shaped pebble. (I've just watched a clip of the scene and I've got the lyrics wrong! But still, the sentiment remains..!)

A grand day out

We put on our aprons and set-up shop yesterday at Wonderhill market- where we had lots of crafty things we’d made for sale and a few vintage treasures in search of a new home!  It also turned out to be the perfect excuse to have a good old natter, meet lots of lovely stall holders, get-through a bag of lemon bon-bons (with a nice dusting, just like they used to be) and enjoy countless cups of tea, whilst playing shop (next to a very delicious cake stall might I add). And to be honest, the best part of all was spending an afternoon with my sidekick, Thelma!
